Nearby golf courses include Cerritos-Iron Wood Nine, Rio Hondo, Heartwell, and Los Coyotes Country Club. For additional green space, it’s a short drive to Whittier Turnbull Canyon and Arroyo Pescadero Trail.

While the children of most Norwalk residents attend schools in the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District, small sections of the city are served by Whittier Union High, Little Lake City, and ABC Unified School Districts. Several La Mirada schools receive excellent scores of eight or nine out of 10 from the school ranking website GreatSchools.org, including Gardenhill, Eastwood, and Escalona Elementary Schools, Arlie F. Hutchinson Middle, and La Mirada High.

Private and parochial schools in the area include Trinity Christian School, Norwalk Christian Academy, and New Harvest Christian School. Cerritos College, a public community college, is located in Norwalk.
