Gardena housing market statistics: As of August 14, 2020 there are currently 45 properties for sale in Gardena listed as active, with an average asking price of $548,656. The highest-priced property is $1,095,000; the lowest priced property can be purchased for $315,000. Gardena neighbourhood listings have an average price of $408 per square foot, based on listings with 2.7 bedrooms, 2.3 baths, and 1,359 square feet of living space.

Gardena Neighborhood Homes

Gardena, a moderately sized community in Los Angeles County, California, is within the South Bay area of the county. It is home to over 58,800 people. This welcoming, beautiful community has one of the largest concentration of Japanese Americans in the state. Today, it is a vibrant, culturally driven community only a matter of minutes from Downtown Los Angeles. Homebuyers will find a variety of amenities here, a competitive real estate market, and numerous homes for sale.

The real estate market in Gardena can be highly competitive. This community is growing. Though there is some land available for new home development, the area has not seen significant new construction in some time. This has left the community with a limited inventory of available homes for sale. Nevertheless, homebuyers will find this community has homes in a variety of styles and price ranges available for sale at any given time.

As of February of 2017, the Gardena real estate market was thriving. The median sale price for a home here was about $470,000. This creates an average price per square foot of $341. The home sales price has risen more than nine percent from February of 2016 to February of 2017. That is a significant increase in the community. During the previous three months, about 100 homes sold in the community. The price per square foot also rose, by five percent, from the previous year.

Much of the community is single family homes. However, there are other options available including duplexes, apartment complexes, and some more modern condos. Most homes here are traditional bungalows, though Colonial, ranch and Spanish-influenced homes are available as well. A few estates and larger homes exist, though much of the community has homes of about 1500 square feet or less.

Another option for those looking to buy a home in Gardena is in fact to build one. The community has some available land and open lots available for custom home building. In some cases, homeowners are removing older homes and rebuilding as well. Some of the home builders available here include Parkview Homes, MBK Homes Garden Square, and Silverline Construction Inc. Others are available in this area as well.

Gardena Community Amenities

Gardena is a rather large community in the Los Angeles area. It spans over 5.9 square miles. Within this community, at least in part, is the Gardena Willows Wetland Preserve, which is a protected green space area located in the southeastern portion of the city. It spans 9.4 square miles.

The city residents have access to Gardena Municipal Bus Lines and the Gardena Aviation Field Office in Harbor Gateway for transportation. Much of this community is residential, with some commercial and industrial areas. The largest employers include Memorial Hospital of Gardena, Hustler Casino, and United Parcel Services. The area has a large factory and warehouse area that has become a very important asset.

With moderate home prices for the region and plenty of opportunity to find the ideal home, Gardena is an ideal real estate market for many. This community is welcoming, diverse, and offers opportunity.

  • The 9.4 square mile Gardena Willows Wetland Preserve is a rare green space located in an otherwise urban setting.
  • The community is home to Gardena Mayme Dear Library, which offers more than 16,000 square feet of space.

Gardena Neighborhood Schools

The Los Angeles Unified School District serves the community with Gardena High School being the main high school. The Roman Catholic Archdioceses of Los Angeles operates several schools here as well.
