The second-largest stadium in Major League Soccer, it's also the temporary home of the NFL's LA Chargers until they move into their new stadium in Inglewood.
The city offers recreational programs for all ages, and it operates two pools, two aquatic centers, and a boxing center among its 17 parks and recreational facilities. Victoria Golf Course is located in Carson, and other nearby courses include Virginia Country Club, Chester Washington, and Lakewood.
Shopping abounds at South Bay Pavilion, a mall of more than 80 stores, service locations, and restaurants that's anchored by Sears, IKEA, and Target. Other nearby shopping areas include Memory Lane Antique Mall, the Lakewood Center, Del Amo Shopping Center, and South Bay Galleria.
I-405 runs through the middle of Carson and intersects I-110 on the west side of town and I-710 on the east side. The city of 19 square miles is home to about 93,000 residents. Carson uses zip codes 90745 through 90747 in addition to several others.
Carson's largest employers are Prime Wheel Corporation and See's Candy Shops, each employing more than 400 people. Other major employers include Pepsi Bottling, General Mills Operations, and Huck International.
